Vehicle Accident on I95

October 30, 2007

10/30/07 at 11:45 a.m. — SLCFD responded the a vehicle accident at the 126 MM of I-95.  A motorcycle and semi hit while merging from Midway Road NB on I-95.  The motorcyclist, a male in his late 40s, was flown to a southern trauma center in serious but stable condition.  FHP was also on the scene.

NOTE TO MEDIA:  Instead of the traditional ribbon cutting ceremony we will uncouple fire hoses.  It should make for a good photo.     


Monday Morning Update

October 29, 2007

10/29/07 at 12:40 — Just before 1 a.m. Monday morning the SLCFD responded to a stabbing on the 6500 block of NW Chugwater Circle, PSL.  Transported by air a male in his mid 20s to a northern trauma center.  He was in stable condition.  PSLPD was also on the scene.

10/23/07 at 7:40 p.m. — SLCFD responded to garbage truck vs. pick-up truck at 12515 Orange Ave., Ft. Pierce.  Ground transported two people (one male and one female, both in their early 20s) to a local hospital with minor injuries.

St. Lucie County Fire District Receives Grant for Mobile Fire Safety House 

Mobile classroom allows community to learn about fire safety

 

 

 

 St. Lucie County Fire District (SLCFD)has received a grant to purchase a mobile fire safety house.  The house will be used as a hands-on learning tool for the community  The federal grant, from the Fire Prevention and Safety Grant Program, was recently approved and the classroom is expected to be delivered in January.  It is an 80/20 matching grant award totaling $70,400.     

“This mobile classroom will allow us to reach out to people in our community at their local schools, churches, or neighborhood center,” explained Fire Chief Ron Parrish.  The safety house is designed to show all age groups how quickly fire consumes and how to react when in a fire.”  

 The state of the art mobile classroom will enable SLCFD public educators to reach out into the community and deliver training directly to the public, specifically targeting audiences of the elderly, children, poverty and high risk groups. The mobile fire safety house is a fully transportable, dual axle custom trailer that carries the latest concepts in fire safety education and prevention.

Saturday Morning Update

October 20, 2007

10/20/07 at 12:49 a.m. — Just after midnight Friday night, SLCFD responded to a motorcycle accident at 2300 N Highway A1A.  Air Rescue flew a male in his late 20s to a northern trauma center in critical condition.  The man was the only one on the cycle, the cycle was the only vehicle involved.  No other injuries.
