7/30/08 at 9 p.m. — SLCFD responded to a small attic fire on the 1100 block of SW Lawndale in PSL. The resident of the home had turned on the air conditioner, tripping the breaker. He soon discovered smoke in his attic. When crews arrived they discovered a small fire near the A/C air handler. No injuries. Estimated damage at $5,000.

7/30/08 at 2 p.m.
This afternoon SLC Sheriff Ken Mascara and Fire Chief Ron Parrish announced “Operation Safe Medicine Cabinet.” This is a program to allow residents to turn-in expired or unused prescription or over-the-counter drugs.
On Saturday, August 2, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., residents can bring their prescriptions to one of 8 locations and receive a $5 coupon from CVS / Walgreens / Walmart. Four of the locations are fire stations — # 10, 12, 13 and 14. Law enforcement will be at each location to accept the meds.
Here a complete list of all the locations:
SLCSO Lakewood Park Substation — 4844 N Kings Hwy at Indrio Crossings
SLCSO Sheraton Plaza Substation — 2905 Juanita Ave.
SLC Admin offices — 2300 Virginia Ave.
SLCSO Admin offices — 4700 Midway
Fire Station #10 on Dalton
Fire Station # 12 off Walton
Fire Station # 13 on Becker
Fire Station # 14 on California
After Saturday, the Sheriff’s office will accept the meds during regular business hours at their offices on Midway.

7/29/08 at 9:10 p.m. — SLCFD responded to an accidental stabbing on the 400 block of SW Peach St., PSL. A male in his mid 30s was flown to a southern trauma center. PSLPD was also on the scene.
MEDIA ALERT –
Fire Chief Ron Parrish and St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken J. Mascara will announce a new program called Operation Safe Medicine Cabinet. This will be a program to give county residents a safe and convenient way to dispose of prescription and over-the-counter drugs that are no longer needed, out of date, or can’t be identified.
A press conference is planned for later today and a joint news release will be issued.

7/29/08 at 2 p.m. — SLCFD responded to a vehicle vs. pole at NE Airoso Blvd. and NE Floresta Dr., PSL. A male, in his mid to late 20s, was also suffering from a gunshot wound. He was flown to a southern trauma center in very serious condition. PSLPD was also on the scene.

7/24/08 at 1:30 p.m. — SLCFD responded to a diesel fuel leak at 1945 Harbortown Drive, Ft. Pierce. Approximately 50 gallons of fuel leaked. FL DEP was called.
7/24/08 at 3:18 p.m. — SLCFD responded to a house fire on the 600 block of NW Kingston, Port St. Lucie. The fire started in the kitchen, with a pot left on the stove. No injuries –an adult female, two children, and two dogs escaped the house. The house is a total loss.

7/23/08 just before 7 p.m. — SLCFD responded to diesel fuel spill on the 2600 block of SW Monterey Lane in Port St. Lucie. A 33′ pleasure boat, docked behind the residence, had leaked from 125-200 gallons of fuel. FL EPA was called.
7/23/08 at 7:p.m. — SLCFD responded to a house fire on the 1200 block of Briarwood Drive in Port St. Lucie. The cause of the fire is accidental, unspecified electrical. The fire was contained to an office area in the private residence. The structure sustain heavy smoke damage throughout. No one was home at the time of the fire. The fire investigator estimates damage between $15,000 and 20,000.
