1/13/12 a.m. — SLCFD responded to 55 calls overnight (6-6).
1/12/12 at 6:15 p.m. — SLCFD responded to a mobile home fire on the 4600 block of South US Hwy 1. Flames were visible from the back of the home as crews arrived. They report it was 50% involved (in flames) upon arrival. A male, in his early 50s, was ground transported to a local hospital with burns. After further assessment by the hospital, he was later flown to a burn center by Air Rescue. The man was the homeowner, and was outside of the structure when crews arrived. The fire started in a back bedroom and was listed at accidental (electrical). The fire caused an estimated $40,000 in damage and the home is considered a total loss.
