Fire at 29th and Virginia

December 10, 2009

UPDATE — The fire was called under control at 1:39 p.m.  No injuries.  The house was vacant and is located on the 2200 block of 29th, just north of Virginia Ave.  The home is a total loss.  Arson is suspected.  (updated Friday a.m.)

12/10/09 at 1:15 p.m. — SLCFD responded to a structure fire at 29th and Virginia Avenue, Ft. Pierce.  The structure — a vacant home or foreclosed home — was 50% involved with flames when crews arrived.  Crews are also dealing with a large amount of bees coming from the house.  Will update when more information becomes available.

Tuesday Morning Update

December 8, 2009

12/07/09 at 6:22 p.m. — SLCFD responded to gun shot wounds on the 500 block of N 19th Street, Ft. P.  Ground transported one male, in his 20s, to the local provisional trauma center.  (It is reported this gentleman later died.)  Another patient/victim was reportedly transported by private vehicle to an area hospital.  FPPD was on the scene.   

12/07/09 at 8:10 p.m. — SLCFD responded to a stabbing at Avenue D and North 26th.  Ground transported a female, in her 50s, to a local provisional trauma center in stable condition.  FPPD was on the scene.

Structure Fire on Tilton

December 4, 2009

12/4/09 at 2:35 am — SLCFD responded to a structure fire on the 1000 block of Tilton Rd., PSL.  Arriving crews found the single family home 75% involved, in flames.  It took crews 1 – 1/2 hours to get the fire under control.  The homeowner was ground transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.  10 units (engines, rescue trucks, tankers) responded to the fire.  SLCSO was also on the scene.   The house is a total loss, estimated at over $450,000.   The investigation continues into the cause of the fire.

Brushfire at 171 MM of Turnpike

December 2, 2009

UPDATE — Brushfire brought under control at 1:50 p.m.  A total of 2 acres were involved.  SLCFD responded with 3 brush trucks, 2 tankers, and an engine.   Correct location was the west side of the Turnpike at the 172 MM.  FHP was on the scene.  Indian River County and Division of Forestry were canceled before they arrived on scene. (posted 2 p.m.) 

12/02/09 at 11:49 a.m. — SLCFD is responding to a brushfire at the 171 MM of the Florida Turnpike.  (The Indian River County line is at the 173 MM.)  Division of Forestry and Indian River County are coming to the location.  Early reports are that the fire is approximately 50 feet from the road, in a location hard to get to.  No reports of any homes being threatened or Turnpike traffic affected.  Will update if situation changes.  (posted 12:40 p.m.)


Wednesday Morning Update

December 2, 2009

12/1/09 at 10:23 p.m. — SLCFD responded to a SUV vs. an 18-wheeler on I-95 at NB ramp of Okeechobee.  Transported three patients, all trauma alerts from the vehicle — Female, late teens and a female, early 20s, both ground transported to a local provisional trauma center.  Baby girl flown by Omniflight to a southern trauma center. 

12/1/09 at 10:44 p.m. — SLCFD responded to a stabbing at 16th and Avenue G.  Ground transported a male, in his late teens, to a local provisional trauma center.  Wounds are not considered life-threatening.
