Wednesday Morning Update

September 24, 2008

9/24/08 at 4:30 a.m. — SLCFD responded to a vehicle accident at SW Bayshore Blvd and SW Lakehurst Drive, PSL.  The accident involved a car vs a pick-up truck and resulted in three patients being ground transported to a local hospital.  Male, in his 20s, was ground transported to a local hospital in serious condition.  He was the driver of the car.  He would have been flown to a trauma center had weather conditions permitted.  A female, in her teens, was ground transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  She was a passenger in the car.  A male, in his 40s, was ground transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  He was the driver of the pick-up truck.  PSLPD was also on the scene.

Tuesday Afternoon Fire on 19th Street

September 23, 2008

(correction on location, made at 3:20 p.m.) 

Update — Fire originated in the kitchen area, cause still undetermined.  Estimated loss $30,000.

9/23/08 at 11:30 a.m. — SLCFD responded to a house fire on the 500 400 block of North 19th Street (just north of Avenue D), Ft. Pierce.  No one was home at the time of the fire.  When crews arrived they saw heavy brown smoke and flames visible through two windows.  The fire was called out at 12:05 p.m.  The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Friday Evening House Fire

September 20, 2008

9/19/08 at 6:09 p.m. — SLCFD responded to a house fire on the 400 block of Riverside, PSL.  A family of 5 was out of the house by the time crews arrived.  The house, a single family residence, was a total loss.  The fire started in a bedroom in the southwest corner (back) of the house, and spread through the attic.  The cause of the fire is undetermined.  Red Cross was called to assist the family (a female in her 60s, three  teens, and one young adult).

Friday accident on I-95

September 19, 2008

9/19/08 at 11:37 a.m. — SLCFD responded to a vehicle accident at the 118 MM of I-95 SB.  A black chevy truck had rolled over south of the Gatlin exit.  Special Operations extricated a male, in his mid 40s, from the truck.  The man was flown to a southern trauma center in critical condition.  FHP and SLCSO were also on the scene.

9/18/08 at 9:11 p.m. — SLCFD responded to a gunshot wound at North 19th and Avenue G in Ft. Pierce.  Transported a teenage male to local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Wednesday Morning Update

September 17, 2008

9/17/08 at 5:48 a.m. — SLCFD responded to a pedestrian hit by a vehicle at the corner of Kenwood Rd. and De Leon Ave. in Ft. Pierce.  The patient, a teenage female, was ground transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  Law enforcement was on the scene. 

9/16/08 at 9:50 p.m. — SLCFD responded to a SUV vs. a motocycle at Gatlin Blvd. and SW Port St. Lucie, in Port St. Lucie.  Ground transported a male in his 20s (driver of the motorcycle) to a local hospital with minor injuries.  Transported a female infant (passenger in vehicle) to a local hospital with minor cuts from broken glass.  PSLPD was also on the scene.

The regular September Fire Board meeting will be held tomorrow (9/17) at 4 p.m., followed by the second public hearing of the budget at 5:01 p.m.  Both meetings are at Milner.
